LHI Productions is an Indigenous-owned, Calgary-based production company dedicated to developing and producing independent film and television. Founded by producer and philanthropist Monique Barrie, the company is committed to supporting Indigenous artists and underrepresented voices within the Canadian screen industry.
Since entering the industry, LHI Productions has produced a proof-of-concept pilot for the series Renegade Fever, along with multiple narrative short films and short documentaries. LHI projects have screened at festivals including the Montreal First Peoples’ Festival, Edmonton International Film Festival, Calgary International Film Festival, FOGFEST Horror Film Festival, and Blood in the Snow, among others.
Beyond production, LHI Productions actively collaborates with emerging and underrepresented filmmakers to foster creative growth and sustainable careers in Canadian film. The LHI team currently has a full slate of narrative feature films, series, and documentaries in development and remains committed to telling compelling, entertaining stories led by thoughtful and passionate storytellers.
Our Story
Monique Barrie
Monique Barrie is a Métis producer and philanthropist dedicated to championing independent film and supporting Indigenous and underrepresented artists in the film and television industry. With a growing focus on private financing and artist-led development, she is committed to helping original projects move from concept to screen.
Since entering the industry, Monique has produced the proof-of-concept pilot for the series Renegade Fever, along with narrative short films including Immortal Embrace and The Hunter and His Apprentice, both currently on the festival circuit. Her producing, writing, and directing work spans narrative and documentary storytelling, with projects screening at festivals such as Blood in the Snow, Calgary Underground Film Festival, and LA Skins Fest, including her first project, The Saint and the Bear.
More recently, Monique has expanded into directing documentary work, including Not in My City: The Paul Brandt Story, led by Canadian artist Paul Brandt that addresses human trafficking through awareness and community action. In addition to her work through LHI Productions, Monique serves as an Executive Producer on projects by emerging and underrepresented filmmakers, supporting the continued growth of Canadian film. She and the LHI team currently have a full slate of narrative feature films, series, and documentaries in development, driven by a commitment to compelling, meaningful storytelling.
